Dear Alex and Anna,

I had to stop and write down some of the things you've been up to lately. Alex, you are funny, as usual. Just today, you were drawing in the car on our way to pick up Baba at the airport. You said, "Mommy, I drew a tree!", which was understandably exciting, since I don't think you had drawn a tree before. You repeated that a few times, then fell silent for a while. I assumed you were busy drawing something else. Then you said in a hesitant sort of way, "No... It's not a tree, it's a cow." Hm, yes, I guess I have to keep waiting for my tree picture for a little while longer. You also have these funny (or strange) off-the-wall moments, like at breakfast today, while eating your hashbrown, you suddenly asked "Am I going to grow a mustache now?" It took me a while to even understand what you were saying, but when I did and asked you why you would think that you would grow a mustache, the response was, "Because I'm eating my hasbrown!" Obviously something you thought of didn't get spoken...

Anna, you're more adorable than ever, although starting to show some impishness now and then. Your favorite trick at the moment is to charmingly hold the nose of the adult carying you around, letting them feel loved with your gentle touch, then moments later, sinking your razor-sharp baby nails into the tender places between nose and mouth, often drawing blood. While the adult is recovering from the shock, trying not to drop (throw?) you, bystanders can observe a very smug expression on your cherubic face, and a definite intention for doing the same again. Of course, it works the best the first time, as you've discovered with Ramona, Alex, and pretty much anyone else who's held you or been near you lately. And I have to record the fact that you still think it's fun to blow raspberries with your mouth full of cereal; to this mealtime ritual, you are adding wiping messy hands on your hair, and throwing things on the floor so you can get a hold of the bowl of cereal while the adult is busy retrieving them (that was an Alex trick, as well). Oh, and for the record, at your 6.4-month appointment, you were 21.1 pounds, 27 1/4 inches, and had a 17 3/4" head.

All for now... Love,
Mommy
