Dear Anna and Alex,
A lot has happened in the last few months. Perhaps the most interesting news is that you are going to have a brother, due to arrive sometime in September. Alex really wanted a brother, while not surprisingly, Anna really wanted a sister. Alex got his wish, and Anna is lobbying for a fourth baby, so that she can get her sister (not much of a chance for that). In any case, Anna feels a bit better about the second brother after establishing that he will not come out looking exactly like Alex (big and talkative), but will start out very small and not able to run or talk at all. I guess it's a good thing Alex wasn't twins.
Alex, you are doing great at school and even finished your number roll first from the whole kindergarden class! You are a great reader and are starting to write some stories (with my help). Unfortunately, most of the contents would be R-rated if they were a movie, so to your disappointment, you can't take your story book to school for show and tell (somehow I don't think the teachers would approve sharing the vivid and very graphic story of the mummy on a killing rampage). Notice the lack of one bottom tooth on the picture here -- you finally lost your first (and so far only) tooth, and had a visit from the Tooth Fairy and the pleasure of being called the Toothless Wonder for a month or so this spring.
Anna, you are a very good girl and learning lots of things, too. You even know about having to do "math-language-reading" every day (since you hear us reminding your brother every day), so when I ask you, "What do you do when you go to play outside?", the usual answer I get is: "Math-language-reading!". Of course, I mostly expect you to remember to wear your hat, but I guess it can't be too bad to squeeze some math in while riding your bike or playing on the playground. You are pretty excited about the baby, too, but it took me the longest time to convince you that I didn't eat it. Actually, I'm not sure I've completely convinced you yet since you sometimes mention how you want to eat a baby too, but only a little one. I am sure you will be a great sister, and hopefully wait a long long time before you are a mommy, too.
Here you are at lelya Elena's wedding on April 29, 2006, near Toronto, Canada. Daddy and I have since sworn never to attend any other weddings until possibly yours.
