Dear Anthony,
You are 2! Your head is 21", you weigh 27 lbs (with lots of clothes and shoes), and are 34" tall. Wow, almost 3 feet! Anyway, you are growing fine and doing everything except talking. You'd rather compose music, I guess. Who needs language when everyone at home can be guided to whatever you want, and then carefully manipulated into doing the right thing with it.
Here is what difference a year makes. This is you on September 29, 2007:

and you today, on September 30, 2008 (waiting patiently in the doctor's office):

You are getting very handsome, so much so that your great-grandmother Boyana wants to put a bow on you (she thinks only girls should be pretty, I guess). I am not going to let her.
Love,
Mommy

Summer is over... This would be sad, but the weather is still warm, even hot, and the leaves are mostly green. We all like fall, too, for different reasons. Alex and Anna, you like fall because of the caterpillars. Normally we can't force you to come for a walk, but in the fall you beg for walks and don't want to come home (but when you do, you have usually captured a number of unfortunate creatures, which Mommy has to spend hours identifying with google). Anthony, you like fall because you like every season when you can stay outside for hours and hours every day. Daddy likes fall because it's not winter, and I like the colors and smells of fall, and the not-so-hot weather.
Alex, you are growing like crazy, soon you will be as tall as me and your feet will even sooner be as big as mine. You are going to the public school now and seem to like it a lot. You like walking to school with your friends, and enjoy the exciting things that happen during the walk, such as encountering the dead raccoon by the sidewalk (Daddy and I watched you this morning as you and a dozen kids were admiring it). Everything is great with you, except that you are grounded until you are 18, mainly for roaming around the neighborhood without telling anyone where you were.
Anna, you are getting prettier by the second. We had to get you glasses for reading because you are farsighted, and you really like them. You look very cute with or without glasses. Maybe now you'll actually start reading. You may have a career as a movie star ahead of you -- your baby brother is fascinated by the home movies with you in them and wants to watch them over and over. It's kind of interesting that he doesn't care about you "live" nearly as much.
Anthony, you are turning 2 tomorrow. You are not talking yet, at least not in a human language, but we are not worried yet. Music seems the preferred way to communicate, which is fun for all of us. Sometimes, it's screaming, which is not as nice. You are getting cuter, but also more mischievous, if that's possible. You are also becoming a daredevil, which is highly disturbing (for me, anyway). You get on a trike that's way to big for you, then go down the driveway at top speed, backwards, letting go of pedals and handlebars. Hmm. I should hide all bungee cords.
All for now... Love,
Mommy
