Dear Alex,
You are very lyrically inclined lately, so I thought I'd post some of your latest creations. Unfortunately, I couldn't type as fast as you were singing, so there is a lot missing, but here is the little I managed to write down:
Propellers, propellers, propellers, propellers spin very fast
Boats have propellers and ships have big propellers
Some propellers are on ships
Some people like that so it can move
Boats live in the seas
We don't let them sink
Holes in boats are bad
Boat, boat, boat, boat, boat,
Dolphins go underwater, they jump on the water
Big whales jump underwater
And before I forget, here is a picture of your most current encounter with some ducks in North Carolina and a "good boy" pose in front of a little Christmas tree.
Love,
Mommy

Dear Anna,
It's been a while since the last time I wrote. You've been very busy -- you started crawling a few weeks ago (on Nov 12, to be more precise), made your first really long car trip (to your grandparents in North Carolina, 1020 miles each way), and ate some Atlantic sand (as opposed to the Pacific sand you ate several months ago). You try to stand, too, but not too successfully; just yesterday you discovered how hard the couch was, but fortunately your head was harder. You are getting more creative with your tortures, too, and we lovingly call you the little inquisitor. Your brother often needs resquing from one of your "loving" attacks. We hope this passes and you discover a way to be a little gentler, but so far you are not showing any signs of it. Your current favorite words are "da-da" and "day-day-day" (give me, give me). You also like to raise your arms as high as they would go whenever we say "yay, Anna"! I have to confess that I taught you to do that because I enjoy seeing how your hands barely reach above the top of your head because of your stubby chubby arms.
Here is a picture with your brother from a month or so ago. You love each other very much, despite your constant abuses.
Love,
Mommy
