Dear Anna,

You've been walking for over a month now! You took your first (voluntary) steps on your brother's fourth birthday, and not long after, you are running as fast as your chubby legs would let you. There are lots of inevitable bumps and bruises, but you are not letting them scare you. In fact, you are rather ambitious -- recently you tried to climb on the couch, and later, get in the tub by yourself. Unfortunately, even standing on a book didn't help much (although you did discover that books can slide easily when you are standing on them on one foot). You are still extremely cute, even when you growl in a most un-baby-like fashion. I also suspect that you are beginning to master fake burps (even your brother can't do that as well as you yet!).

Let's see, in the past month, we went sledding. Alex loved it, and after being pretty scared initially, he started going all the way down the hill by himself and wouldn't stop. You went down with me a few times, but I think that the snow spraying in your eyes was too distracting and you didn't enjoy it much. You also looked a bit like sausage links in your snowsuit (and so could move around about as much as sausage links can). Perhaps next winter you'll have more fun in the snow.

Love,
Mommy
