Dear Anna,
I don't know if I wrote about this before, but it's worth repeating. When you first started counting a couple of months ago, this is how you did it: "One, two, ... chicken, eight, all done!". At first we just laughed since this was rather cute. Then there were arguments -- you insisted that "chicken" is a number, and could not be swayed. This lasted weeks, and I was a bit sad when you started counting "properly" and chicken no longer meant a quantity between 2 and 8.
You are making up words, too. Here are a few:
dinarose = dinosaur
apparose = hippopotamus
plips = either nail clippers or soap, depending on context
plaps = hand lotion
And lots of unpronounceable things....
Love,
Mommy

Dear Alex,
A lot of time has passed since I last wrote; in the meanwhile, you have gone through very interesting times -- for example, you told me recently that you intend to marry Alena. The whole story is rather shady, however, since Daddy insists that you told him you intend to marry Alicia. Hmm, I wonder if you plan to move to Utah, too. In any case, you are certainly not suffering from a lack of girlfriends.
One of your most favorite things lately is going to the zoo with the train. We do that most Fridays after school. The hardest part is staying at the zoo long enough to catch our train home. The express trains going by while we wait for our slow train are both fun and scary, and you like to cover your ears, at least until the engine passes.
We went to Disney World this month, and you and Anna enjoyed it quite a bit. Mommy and Daddy survived somehow. Mommy had a conference to escape to, while poor Daddy was stuck... I mean, happy to take you to the various parks.
Love,
Mommy
